KARACHI – The Governor Sindh, Dr. Ishratul Ibad Khan said Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) is always a “trend-setter” and always performs well.
He was speaking at a prize distribution ceremony of first private production Drama Competition, organised by PTV at Hindu Ghykhana.
About 73 dramas took a part in the competition, out of which 36 were selected and broadcasted on PTV. Drama “Raak Mein Chingari” of Shagufta Ejaz and Yasir Nawaz clinched first prize of Rs2 million. Drama “Azad Qadi” of Universal Broad Casting Production, directed by Baktiyar Ahmed bagged second prize of Rs1.5 million. While, two dramas “Saiba” and “Pahli Tareek” achieved third prize of Rs1 million each.
The jury comprised MNA Meena, Dr. Arfa Syeda and former Managing Director of PTV, Farhat Zadi. The theme of drama competition was based on “socio-economic problems in the society,” and the “literary competition” would be next theme of dramas in near future.
The Governor further said PTV has shown a tremendous progress during the last one-year and run away from all criticism were being faced for the last 10 years.
He said that PTV is the only channel, which telecasts its programmes and productions in multi-languages to every nook and corner of the world. Pakistanis, who are our national assets and living abroad, are entertained and delighted by the channel, Ibad maintained.
He praised PTV as national identity at global level and expressed his hope for further improvement in channel with the help and cooperation of private production in future.
The PTV Managing Director, Akhtar Viqar Azim said that the first private production Drama Competition has set a milestone in the channel’s history, and maintained that PTV drama industry has its own identity. He said that the private production would be encouraged further and a new journey has commenced with their cooperation, which would result in a great and healthy achievement at domestic, national and international level.
On the occasion, regional dances and songs were played. Rahim Shah, Tayyaba Zubair, Ahmed Jahanzaib, Saleem Javed, Shazia Khushk, Ali Hayder and Hadiqa Keyani sang songs, while Paras group performed on song and Urood presented Khathak dance.
