Senior Journalist Mushtaq Paracha Passes Away

Senior journalist and Nowshera Press Club President Mushtaq Paracha passed away due to cardiac arrest. He was laid to rest in his native graveyard in Banar area of Nowshera Kalan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Paracha served in the field of journalism for nearly four decades.

His funeral prayers were offered in Nowshera and attended by a large number of people, including Adviser to the Prime Minister Pervez Khattak, Minister Mian Khaliqur Rehman, Pir of Manki Sharif Pirzada Shamsul Amin, Awami National Party provincial president Mian Iftikhar Hussain, former information minister Barrister Mian Feroz Jamal Shah Kakakhel, journalists, religious scholars, political workers, social activists, and government officers.

Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister and head of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians (PTIP) Mahmood Khan, lawmakers Idrees Khattak and Shah Ahad, and Hospital Director of Qazi Hussain Ahmad Medical Complex Dr Kamran Hakim Khan also visited the family and expressed their sympathies.

Talking to reporters, Mahmood Khan said that journalists like Mushtaq Paracha are born once in centuries. His absence will always be felt. He added: “I had a brotherly relationship with him, and his sudden demise has left me deeply saddened. His contributions to journalism and to his community are unparalleled.”

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman conveyed his condolences to Engr Yousaf Ishaq Paracha via telephone. He recalled his bond of respect with the late journalist, noting that both had studied together at Darul Uloom Haqqania, Akora Khattak. He praised Paracha’s commitment to journalism.

The Nowshera Press Club held a condolence meeting where attendees paid rich tribute to Mushtaq Paracha.
