ISLAMABAD, August 12 2006: The media is enjoying unprecedented freedom and there is no government interference in its affairs, said State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Tariq Azeem Khan on Friday (Aug 11).
Talking to reporters on the occasion of shifting of Daily Times’ Islamabad office to a new building, he said that the Information Ministry would encourage the establishment of training institutions for professional skill development of journalists according to international standards. He said that the government would fund such initiatives, as it wanted to make the country a hub of media activities. Principal Information Officer Ashfaq Ahmed Gondal and Najam Sethi, the Daily Times editor, were also present on the occasion. app
