On September 17, a special committee of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly called for a comprehensive and evidence-based review of the investigation and cases registered related to the May 9–10, 2023 incident at Radio Pakistan Peshawar.

The committee, chaired by Provincial Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights Aftab Alam, was briefed by former investigating officer Wajid Shah on the progress of the cases. Shah said FIRs had been registered against 200 individuals, with 177 cases resolved and 23 still pending.

The committee directed Shah to conduct a detailed review of the unresolved cases and submit a report containing relevant records and evidence at its next meeting. Officials from the police department were also questioned about case management and evidence collection.

Aftab Alam directed the relevant departments to provide all documentation and evidence to the committee and stressed that the investigation should remain transparent, impartial and evidence-based.
