On June 09, GNN News HD’s journalist Yasir Ayaz, who went missing from Islamabad four days prior, was recovered from Swabi and returned to the capital, police revealed.
Ayaz, who works in the capital, but hails from the Mansehra district, had been missing since June 5 from the Aabpara Police Station’s jurisdiction.
According to the formal complaint lodged at Aabpara Police Station by the channel’s administration, Ayaz disappeared after 5 pm from the vicinity of G-7 Sitara Market.
According to police officials, Ayaz contacted his father using an unknown number, informing him of his presence in the Baraqai area of Swabi district.
According to Dawn, Waleed Khan, the incharge of the Mansoori police post, stated that he had been informed that Ayaz was found unconscious near the police post and had been brought to the police post in critical condition.
He later shared that he was a journalist.
“He was extremely nervous and unable to speak. We immediately took him to a private hospital in the Gohati area for a medical check-up. He was brought back to the police post as his condition improved,” he shared.
Upon regaining enough strength, Ayaz contacted his family. Consequently, both his family members and reporters from the private TV channel he is affiliated with arrived at the Mansoori police post. The details surrounding his abduction from Islamabad and his subsequent presence in the Baraqai area remain unclear, including the identity of the assailants and their motives.
The district police subsequently handed Ayaz over to the Islamabad Police, who transported him back to the capital.
