On September 18, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Peshawar rejected an investigation report concerning the May 9 attack on Radio Pakistan Peshawar, declaring it inconclusive.

Judge Wali Mohammad Khan said that the report did not have the opinion of the investigating officer and directed him  to prepare a conclusive report incorporating findings from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) and National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and submit it by September 24, the date fixed for the next hearing.

The court, after hearing arguments, noted that the report submitted by the investigating officer, was “opinion based and inconclusive.” During the hearing, the court noted that the PFSA and NADRA findings had not been incorporated into the report.

On September 5, the ATC had sought a fresh investigation report on the May 2023 attack and arson at the Radio Pakistan Peshawar building during protests following the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan. The Radio Pakistan Peshawar building was attacked by protesters on May 9, 2023, causing damage and arson. A case was registered against PTI leaders, lawmakers and party workers.

Several PTI members, including provincial minister Meena Khan and Members of Provincial Assembly (MPAs) Asif Khan and Fazal Elahi, were implicated in the case. NADRA data and forensic analysis were used to establish the identities of the accused.
